St. Mary of London Debre Tsion Kidist Mariam is arguably the oldest and biggest Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahdo Church in Europe and has been serving the Ethiopian Community in London, and the United Kingdom since it was established in 1976.
Its objective is to primarily provide religious services (baptism, christening, marriage and burial) to followers of Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahdo faith and to build a strong Christian community based on teaching of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
The Church Christ teaches us is a church at peace with itself and which gives rest to those who are overburdened and troubled, Matthew 11: 28-30. However, it has been a while since our church St. Mary of London itself has lost its peace, not because it is cursed but because a “leader” who is obsessed with greed and power, has a strangle hold on its administration, and had no respect to the will of the members.
A reckless shepherded who has deserted his flock intends to transfer the control and ownership of our church to others, without the mandate of his congregation, allegedly in exchange for a higher title. This site has been set up by concerned parishioners and members to campaign against this illicit transfer or sale of our church as a private property and save St Mary of London as a Charitable Trust owned and run by its members under UK law.
Please pray with us to reclaim our church!
